The moment has finally arrived when we get down to business with our first league fixture against Wymondham on Saturday, and boy, are we looking forward to it.
You can only do so much planning, fitness work, agility training, ball work, and relatively unimportant friendly fixtures, with all due respect to Wisbech!!
Saturday is the time when we really need to put into place everything we have practised, and front up. It’s not so long ago since we played Wymondham, and those of you who played will remember it as a game we could and should have won, so we have no fears on that score. In addition we don’t believe they will have put the fitness time in, or the skills work that has transformed some of you over the past few months. They say no gain without pain!! This means we are very confident about the outcome tomorrow, and you should be too. You know we have match winners all over the pitch, all we need to do is to play the type of game we have been talking about over the last two or three weeks. As a side we must dictate how the game is to be played, in other words we play it on our terms, not theirs. You all know what we are trying to achieve in the different parts of the pitch, both in defence and in attack, just go and do it..
I’ve just read over what I’ve written, and I don’t think any secrets have been given away, in fact it is a load of generalized c—p. Hopefully Wymondham will read it, and be none the wiser about how we are going to play!!
The important thing is that YOU all know, we’ve talked about it, we’ve practised it, now comes action time, and we are sure you can and will carry it out, and take us to a famous victory, and the start of a successful campaign.
A final thought, we are all amateurs, and we play for fun, so enjoy it.
