Southwold 0 v 31 West Norfolk
West went to the Norwich festival after playing no rugby for 2 weeks, they were definitely all fired up to win some games. The first draw in the group was Southwold, West played some fast and furious rugby with Jack scoring the first try, running straight through their defence, then came along Tom scoring the 2nd try before half time. the whole team were revved up and playing some great rugby.Jack converted both of these tries making the score 14-0 at half time. Second half was pretty much just like the first, everyone in the team giving their all and tries being scored in an abundance, 3rd scored by Bradley with about half the opposition around him daring not to tackle him, followed swiftly by the 4th again from Bradley .Jack converted one of these but unfortunately George missed his conversion. Bradley then took the ball all the way to the try line again but only to miss the try by about a foot, so he off loaded quickly to Tom who managed to ground the ball for 5th try, Southwold were very frustrated and final whistle saw the score 31-0 to West.
Norwich 0 v 14 West Norfolk
This game saw West having to play Norwich straight away after playing Southwold. Norwich were desperate to beat West but West were on their game and managed to keep the fast play up against them and scored two very quick tries against them, both scored and converted by Jack. Norwich were not happy about this and tried very hard to score but were deprived. Second half saw Norwich up the tempo and West had to defend hard, it was very much end to end but no more tries were scored, great defence from West, therefore the final score was the same as at half time, 14-0 to West.
Swaffham 0 v 41 West Norfolk
West had to start this game as they meant to go on, if they were to win, it meant they were unbeaten in their group and would progress to the final. They did exactly that with once again some great rugby being played, Archie scoring the 1st try, converted by Jack and a very quick 2nd try by Connor W, once again converted by Jack. Then with some awesome tackles from Archie, Josh went right down the wing to score the 3rd try, again converted by Jack.Back to take the restart, West continued on with the pressure allowing Jack to run straight through the middle of their defence to score the 4th try, Tom went to convert but hit the post.Second half continued on a similar footing with West not letting their feet off the gas, Jack went on to score the 5th try,Archie had a go at the conversion but unfotunately missed. The fast and furious rugby carried on to Wests advantage, resulting in Louis scoring the 6th try. By this time it was decided to not take anymore conversions. The last play was called, Swaffham still desperately trying to get on the score sheet but to no avail as West managed to score one more try with Ollie scoring this, making it the 7th try and the final score was 41-0 to West.
Wymondham 40 v 0 West Norfolk (final)
West Now had to pull out all of the stops if they were to stand any chance of winning the final against their opposition, Wymondham. They played their hearts out in this final, it was probably the longest 14 minutes of their lives. Unfortunately, Wymondham are probably the best side that there is at this Under 11 agegroup in Norfolk, they are a very well drilled side that play some lovely rugby and unlucky for West were the best team in the final and they shone on the pitch. A very big well done to the whole West team for putting up a great fight in the final, however they thoroughly deserved their 2nd place on the day and were galant runners up.
WEST 0-15 CHELMSFORD
On a sunny but cool Saturday morning West played host to Chelmsford U11's, When west arrived there oponents were already there with a very large squad of 40 players to face up to with there bare minium squad of 12.
The first match was a very keenly contested match with Chelmsford coming out all guns blazing, there was some fierce tackling from both sides but midway through the 1st half Chelmsford broke away to score there 1st try and make the score 5-0. West kicked off again and began to exert there own pressure on there opponents the forwards were working hard but were still being pushed by there oponents. Chelmsford were playing nice, fast, flowing rugby and managed to break through again and score making the half time score 10-0 . The second half followed much the same pattern with Chelmsford attacking West, who defended stoutly. West had a few chances to score but could not get over that line. As the half wore on Chelmsford scored again and this was the final scoe of the match 15-0 to Chelmsford.
WEST 15-5 CHELMSFORD
West were now having to play Chelmsford again with the same 12 players while there oponents were able to field a whole new squad.
West started with new vigour and were now aware of the challenge ahead of them, they were not playing there usual flowing rugby but were equal to the squad in front of them. After a penalty awarded to west, about 10 metres out from the Chelmsford line Tom picked the ball up and played it to Bradley who took it on and with the help of his team mates drove over the line and placed the ball down 5-0 to West. Straight from the kick off West were caught off guard and were then under pressure. From a scrum Chelmsford then broke away to level the score 5-5. West were not to pleased to let this in and gritted there teeth and fought back to pass the ball out wide to Connor W. who ran and fought his way over the line to score, half time 10-5.
The 2nd half saw West trying to break through on many occasion only to be held out by there dogged oponents. Chelmsford were trying hard to level the scores and West were called upon to defend as a team, which they did. After good work by Archie and Jack,Archie was tackled 5 metres from the line only for Tom to pick up the ball and drive over the line to score.West now managed to close up shop and hold on for the win.
Many thanks to Chelmsford for two very keenly contested matches, from two very good sides.
Swaffham 5 v 25 West Norfolk
West Norfolk went out to win this game from the start, with only 12 players, just enough for a team West started their game well, banging in lots of tackles especially from Archie and romping all over the pitch, they played well as a team and manged to score 5 tries against this side. Try scorers were Liam, Ollie 2, morgan and bradley scoring the last.
Walsham 30 v West Norfolk 0
This was a fast turn around with West having to play this game on the bounce, Walsham were all fired up and West had some tired legs and no subs, just had to get on with it. They played very well even though they lost and were unable to score, their defence was 2nd to none. The team was down hearted but still had a chance with one more game to play in the group stages.
Bury 25 v West Norfolk 0
West Norfolk had a break and not played for quite a while, Bury were another good side like Walsham, well drilled side with fast, slick backs. West were determined that they were not to be beaten but unfortunately they were but not without a fight, they played extremely well right until the final whistle, just didn't have what it took today. Great team effort, just missed out on the plate final.
This was a game that we really needed to win, last time these 2 teams met the game for west was not at all easy in more ways than one. Spalding are a team that always play hard and West owed them one, West came out with a positive attitude from the start and were determined to play hard too. They had the bit between their teeth and started as they meant to go on. The forwards worked hard for the backs to go on and pass the ball well. West were playing some great rugby with lots of rucking and fantastic team work. This all resulted in them scoring the first try of the game, scored by Archie. This really boosted the team before half time. Second half saw West come out all guns blazing with nothing to lose. They played hard once more, not letting their feet off the gas, getting the ball out extremely fast to brandon from a great off load from bradley, who then went on to score in the corner. This obviously got to Spalding and they were really up for it now. They really pressured West to the full and managed to score a try just before the full time whistle. A well deserved win for West and a brilliant all round team performance.
West 35 v 0 Norwich.
West had really got a taste for the game of rugby after their previous win today against Spalding. They were determined to carry on where they left off from that previous game. They were all in the mood to speed up the game. Norwich put up a great fight but West were off from the start with the forwards doing their job to allow Ollie to score the first try. Back to the restart and full throttle, West all over Norwich saw Liam score the second try. Lots of fast ball being passed out down the line, super rugby to watch saw the super fast Louis score before half time, West 15- Norwich 0. Second half and there was no let up from the dominant West side, a few changes were made so that all the squad got a game. West were off again romping through the Norwich defence, all the boys were working hard, saw the first try of the second half, scored by Tom. West were really in their stride now, banging in 2 more tries very quickly, both scored by Jack.Norwich by now were feeling very frustrated, time was getting short and they were still trying very hard to get over that try line. This was not to be as West scored the final try of the game to make the final score West 35- Norwich 0. This try was scored by Louis. The whole team deserves a big pat on the back for their performance today. It is great to see the team back on a winning streak, every boy in the team played a great part today.
West Norfolk U11's travelled to Ely on a bleak foggy morning for their sunday morning game of rugby, West got off to their ususal slow start and went 1 try down in the first half, this was also converted by Ely. Half time came and saw West 7-0 down and slightly demoralised, however things seem to turn round in the second half, West dug their heels in and battled hard to try and get back in the game. They turned the game round with the forwards working hard and gaining ground which allowed Louis Jones, scrum half to score in the corner with a great try on his return from injury which hasn't faised him at all. This was converted by Jack. They battled on from the restart on what was more of a mud bath and not a rugby pitch, scoring again very quickly by Jack Trundley and also converted by him. Final whistle saw West win 14- 7.
Ely 14- 7 West Norfolk
Ely and West played a second game, Ely obviously wanting to beat us as they were on home turf. Both sides battled with playing good rugby today on the terrible pitch, however West gave them a good game, Ely managed to score 2 tries and convert both of them in the first half putting West behind for the second time even though West defended hard and the tries came from 2 lucky breaks and 2 silly mistakes by West. Half time Ely 14- West 0. Second half saw West grit their teeth and take on Ely and come back and score and convert by Jack Trundley. Lots of hard work continued within the team from a mixture of forwards and backs, tom, Ollie,Connor, bradley and some great work from 2 new players who are learning fast, Ashley Stodart and Jackson Booker. The whole team really gave their all and tried to even the score up, several times only to be denied, always held up. Final score Ely 14 West 7, although i feel a draw would have been a more reflection of the game.
West were back to an almost full compliment of players today, this saw the team take on Swaffham at home. The game got off to a great start with West running riot with their opposition. West were very much dominating the game and within the first 5 minutes of the game saw Jack score the 1st try, then quickly afterwards Brandon scored the 2nd, Then came Bradley running in the 3rd and finally Morgan made the 4th try. They didn't seem to be running out of steam but did run out of time, half time score 4-0 to West. Second Half West came out with the feet firmly still on the gas, some great flowing rugby being played by all the team, solid scrummaging and still dominating the game saw Archie fly over the try line to make this try number 5. They carried on playing a great team game with all players making a difference on the pitch. Lots of very fast and furious rugby continued to be played, with lots of help from his team mates saw Bradley score his 2nd try and making the final score 6-0 to West. Well done to Ashley Stoddart who made his debut for the team, may he continue to enjoy playing the great game of rugby.
West 1 v 2 Wisbech
West were feeling on top of the world having won their game against Swaffham. now it was time to knuckle down and play a completely different game. This was a battle from start to finish, very hard fought game, Wisbech being local rivals and obviously wanting to beat us. This was a game where both sides were very well matched and both sides holding no prisoners and getting on with th e job in hand. They all battled hard but eventually a try was scored by Wisbech. West replied instantly by taking a quick kick and chase of the ball, Javk almost getting there but was stooped in his tracks just short of the try line, Archie was hot on his heels and was there to be able to score the equaliser. Wisbech were a bit shocked by this, they thought they were going to take control of the game and fast. This was not to be, West kept up a great defence and just before half time Wisbech gained a little bit of luck and managed to score another try, half time score 2-1. Second half saw both sides continue to battle against each other, a few injuries on both sides, the tough game was beginning to take it toll. West got to the try line on more than one occasion were not able to ground that ball to get that important equaliser, however a great physical game to watch all be it having a few problems from West's opposition. The final score was indeed 2-1 to Wisbech but the whole team deserve a huge pat on the back for how they all performed today, a credit to the club and their coaches.
Game 1
Holt got off to a good start by powering through the West Norfolk defence and scoring a very quick try. West then realised that they had to defend hard and managed to battle and hold Holt until half time, score was still 1-0 to Holt. Holt came out in the second half wanting to move the game on and put lots of pressure on West, forcing mistakes, enabling Holt to score their 2nd try. They all continued to play hard, the ball was back and forth between both sides but Holt managed to score a third, Bradley came from out of no where to try and prevent the try but didn't quite get there.
Game 2
This game saw the strong Holt side come out with fresh legs as they have a much bigger squad than West, who only had the bare 12 players that they needed to put out a side. As the game went on West were getting tired and missing some of their key players, this began to show. However Many of the stronger boys tried hard and cotinued to play their game, some great rugby coming from Ollie, Bradley and Tom. Grest tackling coming from Alex, Connor and Conor Clarke. Good running from Brandon on the wing and some really strong scrumaging. Half time score was 4-0 to Holt. Second half was really hard for the boys, Morgan struggling with an injury to his wrist and the team had their heads down but they carried on trying to get the ball. Holt carried on putting in the tries but then from a late penalty West luck changed and Bradley managed to power over the try line to score the only try for West but at least they got on the score sheet. Final score Holt 7-1 West Norfolk.
Game 3
This was a game where West borrowed 3 Holt players, we gave our injured scrum half a rest and 2 of our new players so they could watch and gain some understanding of the game. This gave West a new lease of life and saw them play some great rugby, it was a pleasure to watch. In the 1st half West managed to score 3 tries against Holts, 1 from Tom and the other 2 tries coming from the borrowed players. The 2nd half was also great to watch, the tiredness seemed to disappear and the players gained a new lease of life, Holt managed to score 1 try but West banged in 2 more tries from Ollie and a great run right down the wing from Brandon scoring the 5th. Final score Holt 1- West Norfolk 5.
Thanks to Darren Clarke and Steve Smith for helping out today, with Head coach Ian not well. We are also still looking for new players to join our small squad
Game 1
This was a game that West needed to take command of as Walsham beat us 2 weeks previous but West got off to a slow start and they found themselves defending for the whole of the first half with Bradley getting them out of trouble with some great clearance kicks, however Walsham still managed to score 2 tries in this half.
Second half West had to come out fighting once again, great tackle from Josh but Walsham still powered over to score.West took quick restart and managed to score from a scrum by Morgan.Despite lots of will and defence work Walsham managed to score 2 more tries before the final whistle.
Game 2
Having lost the 1st game West had to put the pressure on now, West won the line out but Walsham put on the pressure to regain the ball only to lose it to a forward pass, this resulted in a scrum amd Walsham scoring. This then followed by a great ball from Walsham but the ball fell intl Liam's hand for a great run forward, he was tackled and Jack piled in to help but nothing was gained from this and West then had a scrum. Scrum after scrum were occurring and eventually walsham scored just on half time.
Great start to the second half by Jack catching a brilliant ball from the opposition, he then passed to Josh who was swiftly pounded by Walsham, then came a West scrum but to no avail walsham scored. West didn't give in even when Walsham scored again.Quick kick off saw Jack chase to the try line and score for West. Walsham replied straight away with another try. West were really down by now as Walsham scored by running straight through the West defence. There was then more of a game of ping pong than rugby as the ball went backwards and forwards between the 2 teams but Walsham were really pushing hard and scored the final try right on the full time whistle.
West 0 v North Walsham 10
This saw west of to a slow start but they battled hard, holding Walsham at bay for what was an extremely flat out first half, all of the team defended hard to try and stop walsham from scoring but unfortunately they managed to score a try just on the half time whistle.
The second half west came out having to try and equalise but once more they were having to defend hard to stop walsham from scoring again. This carried on for all of the second half of the game but regretably walsham managed to score one more try right on the full time whistle.
Holt 5 v West 5
This saw 2 sides meet that seemed to be very much of the same standard. They all played great rugby and managed to be from one end of the pitch to the other with no score from either side at half time.
Second half saw Holt come out and score a very quick try to take the lead. This again saw west having to defend hard once more and try to win back the ball, which they did with great style and managed an equaliser in the last seconds of the game, scored by ollie spurrier.
Swaffham 5 v West 20
After quite a long break, this saw west come out needing to beat swaffham to make the semi final. However, things didn't quite go to plan to start with, with swaffham scoring a lucky try from west having to play against 13 men not 12, the game wasn't flowing at all, stop, start by silly offences. Anyway, west gritted their teeth and dug deep and got the better of swaffham in the long run.
Second half saw west come out all guns blazing, great rugby played by all, louis jones was like a little terrier, he was everywhere with his tackles, the same went for Archie proctor. The forwards battled hard and this then began to prove how by Jack Trundley scoring in the corner. Quick restart then saw Bradley Gallacher power over for the second try. The great team rugby continued for yet a third try scored by Ollie Spurrier. West were beginning to romp home now and with a fantastic run right down the wing the fourth try was scored by Brandon Jones on his debut for west U11's. What a great finish to the game.
Unfortunately, even though West were joint second in the group with Holt on points, Holt made the semi-final by scoring just one more try than us. Big well done to the boys, they had a great day, playing some great rugby and the highlight of the day was meeting England and Leicester Tigers scrum half Ben Youngs, They all seemed to get his autograph on at least one piece of their kit.

West Festival
West got off to a slow start today, they all battled hard against Norwich who were out to beat us, this seemed a very long first half but eventually saw west score a try before the half time whistle by Bradley.
The second half saw West wake up and this half saw some great rugby, taking it to the extreme, battling and defending hard, holding off Norwich to the final whistle.
West Norfolk 20 v Swaffham 0.
West were up for this game, the first game gave them a taster of winning and they knew what they had to do. There was great rucking from the forwards, george, tom,Conor,Liam and Brad, this then allowed the backs to do there part and pick up the ball and run. This was a very fast game and saw Jack break through to score the first try. They then put the pressure on and repllied with another quick try before half time from Bradley.
The second half saw west keepup the pressure with the team playing great rugby, all the forwards worked hard in many rucks and allowing bradley to bulldozer over the line for the 3rd try of the game. It was great to see the team coming together angain, playing how we know they can play, a 4th try finally came from Bradley once more, scoring a hatrick in this game before the final whistle.
West Norfolk 0 v Spalding 25.
This was a very hard fought game with west playing straight away with no break from the previous game. Spaling were a very physical team and managed to band in 3 tries in the first half.
The second half saw west try very hard to keep up the pace but tired legs and dropped heads saw them go another 2 tries down and they were now very dispondent and were very gald when the full time whistle was blown.
They all played extremely well today and should be proud of theirselves. They were the runners up of their group.
The first game of the day saw West play Holt. These are a very strong side, hence west went 2 tries down in the first half, even though they all played fantastic rugby. The second half saw west come out all guns blazing, pulling back 2 tries, the first from Bradley Gallacher and the 2nd from Jack Trundley. They continued to play hard with Jack scoring a 3rd try to make it all even. They defended well but just at the last minute Holt took the ball to score a lucky try right on the full time whistle.
Norwich 10 v West 15
West were warmed up now and playing to their full potential with Jack scoring the first try.The whole team carried on battling hard and pinning down the Norwich defence. Right from the West try line, Jack broke through to run the length of the pitch to score the 2nd try. After half time, team spirit was at a high and they continued to play a very hard game.Norwich got a lucky break and managed to score their 1st try. West then restarted the game only to reply with another try from Tom Hitchcock.Norwich managed to score 1 more try in this game, the final score saw west win 3 tries to 2.
